AREA, the Air Right Exchange of America, standardizes air rights transfers in major American cities.

We are an end-to-end air rights transfer firm, supporting real estate developers and property owners by originating, structuring, and closing small air rights transfers. These transfers improve project economics and allow more housing, commercial space, and community facilities to be built. AREA specializes in small transfers that do not disrupt community character.

AREA currently operates in New York City and facilitates all four types of air rights transfer possible there.

OUR PERSPECTIVE

American cities are underbuilt.

In New York City alone, 58% of square footage already zoned to be built sits unused as air rights. The majority of these air rights owners have less than 10,000 square feet and have not been shown what they own, because small transfers are often uneconomical to serve.

This is why we standardize small-scale air rights transfers, so owners and developers can build as cities intended.
